“The G7 representatives in Brindisi are not welcome guests”. This is what the members of the 'No G7 Coordination Table' (a body that brings together grassroots associations, movements and trade unions at a national level) declared in a note, announcing that they will demonstrate in the square in Brindisi on 13 June, on the occasion of the inaugural dinner of the summit in the Swabian castle, and on 15 June in Fasano.
The summit is scheduled for June 13th to 15th in Borgo Egnazia. “Not even the visit of these sad characters will be able to erase the constitutional right to demonstrate – we read in the coordination note”. The 'No G7 Coordination Table' strongly contests "the policies of these countries which are leading us to a world war and a war economy which is already cutting resources for healthcare, social services, the world of work and much more" .
During the three days of the G7, the associations will organize meetings in Fasano on the topics that will be discussed in Borgo Egnazia and "whose contents have become the protests that are crossing the planet: from wars and their use to reaffirm the economic superiority of the USA with the support of NATO".
“In particular, NATO – they add -, together with European ministers, talk about a return to compulsory military service because the next wars need millions of soldiers, technology is not enough; in short, it serves as cannon fodder. They have already calculated that the immediate rearmament of the G7 countries alone is worth 10,000 billion dollars."
“In the face of all this we cannot understand the enthusiasm of local administrations on the possibility of welcoming events which in one way or another – they conclude from the 'G7 Table No – bring misfortunes for the entire planet'.
